Visit to Hong Kong in November 2011

I accompanied my husband to attend the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors' Association Conference held in Hong Kong late last year. The official reason is to network with other contractors in the region but for my husband and me this is also another opportunity to sample the famous Hong Kong cuisine.
It was Christmas time.... apparently the best time of the year to visit Hong Kong.

Shopping season. Hongkong people are great shoppers and price does not seem to be a problem. Apparently the tourists from mainland China are even more extravagant shoppers.

Our host arranged a sumptuous dinner for all the participants.

Followed by entertainment from a group of very energetic performers from South America.

Notice our happy and very satisfied look?

The Malaysian delegation having a good time.
Hongkong is a fascinating place. It has the most modern architecture on this side of Asia...alongside some very old historic buildings.
And yet, when it comes to construction, they still rely on some old, time-tested methods such as bamboo scaffolding. I was so impressed!

Our host took us on a long bus ride across to another island just to sample the famous roast goose.
I noticed that it is also the season for the hairy crabs.
We have some relatives working in Hongkong. They treated us to afternoon tea at this very posh restaurant. In Hongkong, any place with such a fantastic view must be very expensive!
